Will this setup work?

I think I've read that this setup would be fine in past threads but just wanted to make sure. I went in to the exhaust shop and the guy said he could do 3" piping throughout (I believe from the y pipe off the cats) into a 3" SI/SO Flowmaster. I thought I read on here before that for a SI/SO setup, that 3" throughout is one of the better ways to go. Is that true or am I going to lose some torque? I have the muffler, but with a nice chrome, rolled tip, new piping and muffler install they want $180. Any ideas, or does this sound like a good setup. Thanks for the input.

3" piping on a single in single out is the way to go. ive got 3" piping from the y to a si so 18" magnaflow. $180 is just about right. what flowmaster are u going with??

3" from the Y is most certainly fine, great sounding and performing setup.

You're going to run 3 inch SIDO with 5 inch tips?

I kinda agree, 5" tips look good only on a lifted truck.

My view of it is, certain body height can pull off the look of different sized tips. 2wd trucks and street trucks look best with 3" - 3.5" tips, 4wd trucks look best with 3.5" - 4", big lifted trucks can pull off 5" tips no problem. JohnWade has 5" tips on his 8" lifted rigg, looks awesome.

3" piping is the way to go. It will surely sound and perform well. I'm not that sure though with the 5" tips, I just think that it is too big. Just my opinion.

Actually someone did. His name is ManualF150, and he has an XL with a 4.2 V6. Not to be mean or anything, but it's one of the saddest things I've seen on this site.

I have 4 inch tips on my Magnaflow and I can't even imagine anything bigger than that. It would look odd to say the least.
