Exclamation Help with new exhaust

My current exhaust setup is custom long tube headers a magnaflow 12198 muffler swap with side exits. I have this setup an I feel like I am lossing torque.
I want a new exhaust setup that gives me a gain in torque. Exhaust gurus please help me choose my new exhaust.

Losing power with long tubes? What are you running, true duals or what?

Hm, that's interesting, losing cats would lose back pressure which could lead to torque lost.

LTs, no cats, and a single exhaust is one of the best performing setups. You must be lacking power elsewhere. Your running a 3" intermediate pipe from the Y to the muffler correct? Your not running the 2.5" dual in 2.5" single out Y pipe? That would kill flow.

When you say that the best setup is with a single exhaust, what tube diameter is the single exhaust?

I have the stock Y pipe with the stock 2.5 tubing running to the muffler.

I have been thinking about two different setups

Setup #1
-Dual 2.5" in Single 2.5" out Y pipe
-2.5" in 2.5" out SI/SO Magnaflow Muffler

Setup #2
-Dual 2.5" in Single 3.0" out Y pipe
-3.0" in 3.0" out SI/SO Magnaflow Muffler

Wich of the setups will give me more performance?

Thanks for all the replies

That right there is precisely your problem, its struggling to ex-hale. Using that stock 2.5" dual in, 2.5" single out Y pipe is killing so much energy, and the 2.5" intermediate pipe leading towards the muffler is too. You should definitely be running a 3" intermediate pipe in your exhaust, meaning 3" from the Y to the muffler, and get a better Y pipe.

Your options, you need Setup #2. Get 3" installed to the muffler ( in the middle of an exhaust, a smaller size leading to a larger size interupts flow and changes velocity pressure ) , and get a dual 2.5" in to single 3" out Y pipe connector ( Magnaflow Part #10778 ) or have your shop get creative and cut the stock Y pipe in half and mate a 3" end on it.

You could run dual outlets too, keep them 2.5", doesn't have to be 100% single, just upgrade to 3" and fix the Y pipe.
