Magnaflow muffler swap for less than $80

Well after thinking about a cat back system for my 05 it finally occured to me that I could just do a swap much cheaper. I wanted better performance and also a deeper sound but since I tow a travel trailer often I did not want anything too loud. I ended up with a Magnaflow 18" and I am very pleased so far. Nice deep note but not so loud it's all you hear in the cab. Anyway I made the swap this weekend. I was able to reuse the factory hanger and exhaust pipes. All I welded in was about a 10" section of pipe from Autozone. After unbolting all the hangers from the frame the hardest part was getting the stock muffler and pipe to slide out from the section in front that I unclamped. I sprayed it good with PB blaster but no go? Once I figured out there was a notched section and you had to rotate counterclockwise from muffler side and then pull it removed fairly easily. I new I needed an offset muffler but once I had the stock on the ground (boy is it huge compared to the magnaflow!) I was not sure if the offset was for up and down or left and right? I ended up going with the left and right. I also marked the top of the stock pipes before I cut them off so I could reposition them the same on the Magnaflow. A couple of cuts, a few test fittings and welds later and I had a replaced muffler on my stock pipes. I was able to adjust the stock hangers after I cut them off the old muffler to compensate for any difference in the up and down offset. Once bolted back on the truck everything was in the same place it was previously. I got the Magnaflow off ebay for about $70 and spent another $8 for the piece of exhaust pie from Autozone. It took me about 3 1/2 hours by myself. I am very pleased with the way it turned out!

Its 2.5", the inlets/outlets match the stock piping perfectly so that leads me to believe 2.5".

The part number is 11256 and it is a 2.5 in and out which is the stock pipe size. I got it off of ebay from performance peddler. They had a buy it now or best offer price of 77. I offered 65 and they countered with $69.99 which I took. It has been on the truck a few weeks now and maybe it is just my imagination but I think the sound is even better than when I first installed it? It was a fairly easy swap.
