Exhaust Cost

Guys, I emailed a few local shops, and I got outrageous quotes. I am calling another one tommorow (the one I would go to, the other's were just to get an idea for myself). I want a 14" magnaflow si/do with stainless piping and 4" x18" tips. I got a quote of 620 and 850. I know emailing probably just caused them to throw out ridiculous prices, what anyone with this set-up or similar, what did you pay? I'm in MA so that could affect cost?

Any help would be great

thats retarted. if your buying all the stuff from the shop (muffler and tips) ull be paying probably around 250 including labor. if you buy the muffler and tips online (summit racing, performance peddler, ebay, etc) which will be cheaper ull be at probably 125 with labor. youll save about 50 bucks max if you order online. good luck.

That's high, where do you live? I got Flowmaster original 40 si/do with 2 3 1/2x18" SS tips for 350.

Massachusetts. I think they are trying to gouge because I emailed them. I would not go to either shop, just wanted an estimate. They probably figured I was shopping around, so I don't blam ethem I guess. With stainless piping, the 14" maggie si/do and the 4"x18" tips (IDK if Ill do the magnaflow tips if they have a similar version in SS) around what should that cost. I dont think ill bring my own stuff.

I got some pretty high quotes, though not that high, a while back when I was looking around at some local shops for a similar setup, although I am planning on a SI/SO 14" Magnaflow not a SI/DO.

The explanation that I got for the high price was the 'going rate' for stainless piping.....

If they're using t-304 stainless steel piping and welds with mandrel bends, its about worth it but still up there. For regular aluminized piping and smooth bends it would be about $100 - $150 fabbed & installed, or $150 - $240 mandrel bent with aluminized, excluding the price of your muffler and tips. The muffler is $84, tips in 4x18 size SS usually run $35 - $60 each
