There is no horsepower increasements just from mufflers in general, but every Magnaflow muffler performs exactly the same because its straight through, and straight through exhausts are what are healthy for performance. Only differences is the 18" is maybe 15% - 20% quieter, and costs more since it takes more stainless steel to make a larger muffler.

Darren,
My problem is that i'm getting the exhaust put on tomorrow and dont know if i should go with the 18" or 14" can. I don't mind the exhaust being loud outside when idling, but when i'm crusing at 1700 - 2000 rpms i dont want it to be too loud inside the cab. I have an intake and the gryphon programer so i just want to pick the right exhaust to complete the package. From reading the threads, some people say 14" is not that bad, others say its too loud. I just dont want to make the wrong choice. I'm spending $500 canadian on a SS cat back SIDO magnaflow system so i want to do it right the first time. Any comment greatly appreciated. Thanks

I have the 14" SISO and I can honestly say it's a little loud for most peoples taste. I personally love it. There is a weird spot around 2000-2300 rpm that you can get a very loud drone, but I haven't heard it in a long time, you learn to drive around it.

I thought that there should be no drone as long as you leave the stock cats in place????

I have a SIDO 18" Magnaflow that was included in the 16616 catback. It is a very good sounding muffler that gives you a nice pur at idle and subtle roar at WOT. I wouldn't want it to be any louder, as it is just fine how it is.

Every motor and muffler combo will have a resonate frequency. With my 18" Magnaflow it is thankfully at a higher RPM than I cruise at. Actually, I think it is the quietest at 1,800rpm which is where I cruise at a lot of the time.

The 18" body is what you will want if you want it calmest inside.

They don't perform exactly the same. The larger muffler causes more turbulence and resonates the sound more. The difference in power or mileage between the 14" and 18" will be so minute you will never notice a difference.

I believe the 18" muffler is the one your looking for.

Well yeah I understand the resonation is different per case sizes, but the general fact is they are all the same flow path design.
