CAI question

I have a 2006 F150 4.6L with an AFE Magnum Force CAI setup. Is it necessary for me to have a tuner to avoid running lean? I plan to get one eventually but I don't want to damage the engine in the meantime.

Thanks

If you're already running the CAI, and not having any problems, then I wouldn't worry about it.

Normally not a problem with running lean on a 4.6 however, you will not be taking full advantage of the CAI without custom tunes. That would involve either an Xcal3 or a Gryphon. For those with the 5.4, you can be running lean and never hear it. It can be a silent engine killer.
