S&B Intake issue.....

My intake is making this insanely loud noise like a vibration almost and it does it at 2000 rpms on the dot. This sucks cause this is cruising speed. I have literally almost completely taken the thing apart and put it back on and triple tightened everything.

Is this normal for the S&B? I might go take some video of it later today.

I have an S&B intake on my 5.4 also, and would say that is not normal. I couldn't really notice any differnce in sound when I added the intake, though, I do have a Borla cat-back that could mask a little sound.

Do you have a tuner? I believe most have solved this drone problem with custom tunes. Secondly, if you do not have a tuner with custom tunes Xcal3 or Gryphon), you are not utilizing much of the CAI potential.

Yep, the S&B does not have a bad rep for causing the drone.

Yeah ive got a gryphon with custom tunes on it for the S&B intake.

I guess ill take it apart again and see if i can figure out where its coming from. Its not as much a drone as it is a vibration

Maybe it's not the intake? Maybe something else came loose or is rubbing, but I'm sure you've already thought of that.

I did think of that actually and couldnt find anything. I think its something with the actual airbox itself and the way i keep installing it. Im going to reinstall it again tomorrow and maybe stick a strip of dynamat on it and see how that works

I get some massive resonation when the engine begins to lug and drops to a really low rpm... After putting back on the stock intake to take it to the dealer this is all gone, most likely because of the silencer on the stock intake. I have been contemplating some sort of silencer on the S&B just to kill the resonation, I love the sound at WOT but doubt my idea would allow me to have both quiet when driving and great WOT sound..

I have had the S&B for around 2-3 years now and this has always been an issue for me, but other than that i love the intake. I also dynomatted the intake box and that did no good, Its in the intake tube.
