Exhaust help

I think I have finally decided on a 14" maggie si/so. I'm might put a 3.5" or 4" maggie tip on the end but now for the ?

I have gathered for the best sound and performance out of this setup I should run a 3" intermmediate pipe to the muffler but should I run a 2.5 or three out to the tip?

Also, looks aren't that important to me. A tip would be nice but so would a turn down. What would you guys recommend for the best sound.

Thanks
-Lynn

Run it all 3" from the Y with a 4" tip.

That's what I was thinking, just wanted to make sure.

Darren, would it be louder with the turn down and how much should I expect it to cost for mandrel bent stainless on parts and labor (excluding muffler)?

Thanks again

It'll be louder, and won't sound as good IMO with turndowns.

It will be only louder inside with a turn-down, outside will not be as different. Straight through mufflers sound decent turned down but chambered mufflers dont in my personal opinion. But I always vote for having tailpipe(s), looks better, and directs the sound better.

So I guess it will be 3" from the y pipe all the way back through a 14" si/so maggie into a 4x12 tip. Summit has the tip and muffler for about 125, not bad.

How much can I expect for the stainless 3 inch all the way out and labor. I have to give the numbers to the accountant/wife for approval. I was thinking maybe in the $150 range?

That's better than I thought if I'm right on the price. Man I hope it sounds good. Does anyone have anything similar? How do you like it?

I'll find you a video in a moment, but for labor, $100 - $200 would be right for 3" stainless from the Y.

Heres some vids. They aren't exact to what you want but very similar, 14" bodies SI/SO

Thanks Darren, that's pretty much what I thought from searching the forums, but needed to hear it from someone that knows.

I was sold on the flows since I had them on both my mustangs, but a flowmaster in GA is a different story in SD with all the salt they dump on the roads. SS will be the way to go. I thought about hi-temp paint on a super 44, but everybody talks the maggies up so much I figured I'd give them a chance. I hope it gives me the sound that I want!

Thanks again
