My chevy had only 140k but held up fine. Keep in mind "Built Ford Tough".
I did the stock 2.5" tailpipe with a 4"x 12" straight cut tip. (not slash cut) Used all the stock exhaust hangers and was fairly cheap. Didnt have any pics though before going to the new setup thats very different. Good luck with your endeavor.

New 2.5" tail pipe w/a tip...

Any brand of tip anyone could recomend? There seems to be about 1000 choices?
if you want rolled edges, magnaflow tips are really popular. if not, i have these tips and they pretty good, for a good price too.

these are the ones i have
http://performance-curve.com/index.a...OD&ProdID=1375

they also have 4x18 and 3.5x22

Stupid question...I'm assuming I know the answer...

Exhaust mods shouldn't void my warranty in any way will they? I'm leaving the cats etc...

Any more info on anything would be great! Thanks!

Just got off the phone with the 'local' shop (its over 1hr away) and liked what I heard.

W/him ordering the muffler and doing the work for a full 3" with a tip it would be around 300.00.

I'm thinking I can save some cash and get the muffler myself and tip too. Then have him bend it up and weld it up. I'm assuming it'd save me 30-50.00...

If I go with the 3" cat back should I go with a 14" or 18" muffler....Does anyone have P/N's to both available? Thanks!

Your warranty will be fine with a simple exhaust change no worries there.

Awesome good to hear you can get the work done.

3" 14" body SI/SO would be part #11229

3" 18" body SI/SO would be part #12259

Thanks again for all your help.

I'm thinking 3" is the way to go. Both for looks and performance, and as the installer said its not that much more $$ then getting a 2.5" muffler and tail pipe made up so it exits where I want it too....Also more of a selection of tips with 3"!

Do you think his prices were about right??? I know its all relative but...

Also...I didn't ask about the bends...I forgot...Is Mandrel bending really that critical to have done?

I think his prices are very fair. The whole purpose of switching to 3" will be mostly for performance, 3" will sound a little better to, but the great flow of 3" will be much easier on your engine and if you do further performance modifications down the road you wont have to change your exhaust to acomidate with them.

As per Darren's advice, I'm going to be switching to a full 3" exhaust with a 14" SI/SO Maggie as soon as funds allow(but it WILL be this coming month for sure ). If you're still looking for a tip, take a look at this one, 3" inlet with a 3.5" outlet,

Thats a nice looking tip for sure.

I've been looking at a bunch of them. Still unsure of what I want! I'm thinking 4" outlet for the tip...18-22" long or so...Who knows. I have time as I don't have the funds either...But it should be awesome when I get it done!

Well I can give you my opinion. For a single exit, nothing looks better than a 12" long tip with a 3.5" or 4" outlet. For dual straight out or 45 degree turned out the back, 18" long tips with 3.5" or 4" outlets look best. 22" is much too much length for tips, and with the spare tire where it is you couldn't fit a 22" tip out the side anyways.

3" exhaust, 4" single tip is the way to go!! I think you'll really be pleased with the results.

Thats a nice looking tip too!

So many choices! HAHAHA

Thanks a lot guys. I've still got some thinking to do...Still torn on the 14" or 18" call...Especially w/the 3" set-up. Can't find many good sound clips...So hard to tell. I just don't want to have it rattle my head when I'm towing at 70mph with o/d off.....
