Looking for an easy to maintain, quiet CAI

So Im thinking my next mod is going to be a CAI. I keep hearing that people dont like some of them because they dont wanna oil the filters blah blah blah. I dont really think I want to do that either. Should I just do the gotts mod? or what do you guys recommend?

I also like a nice quiet running engine, so a CAI that sounds like a hurricane is a no go. What do you guys recommend?

The AEM intake might be a good choice for you. Dry flow filter. I personally prefer enclosed intakes though, better air induction with enclosed. I believe the Volant kits are enclosed with dry flow filters. You could also try the Gotts tube mod or the DMW adapter to keep your stock intake and draw more air in. And intake will make it a little nosier under the hood.

Depending on what V8 you have, look into the Gotts Mod

I put a volant on my 06 5.4 about a year ago. Its enclosed, use dry flow filters. Pretty quiet until you put your foot in it, then it gives that old 4bbl carb whooshing sound. That said, I wanted more rumble so I also added dual Magnaflows. Now I have a nice rumble on cruise, it can growl when i want it, but it's still pretty quiet driving - not much drone in the cab. Prior to the duals - runing just the CAI, it was nice and quiet.

Hmmm volant may sound like a winner. I like the idea of the Gotts (ive got a 5.4 so it should be rpetty easy) but I hate the look of that huge black tube under my hood. Thanks for the input.

Huge black tube? I did the gotts and you can barely even tell by looking under the hood. All you're doing is taking out one piece of black tube, and replacing it with another black tube. I actually used white pvc, but the coupling covers its up, and it is black.

Well.. you know what the '04+ 5.4L intake looks like right? Its massive, and hideous.

I have a volant cai with dry power core filter on it too and when you stomp on it you can deffinetly hear it, when just cruzing you can hear more air flow than stock but not to were its enoying or loud, just sounds like more air becasue you have a bigger tube and getting more airflow. The throttle responce is great since i installed it. I also have a flowmaster 50 series deleta flow si/do and love it.
