97-03 5.4 headers
As for economy, I have no idea if headers ( longtube ) can help or not, and all headers are a major pain in the A when it comes to manifold removal and header install.
The Dynatech Longtubes with hi-flow cats kit would be a good choice, $1200 but you get the LTs, hi-flow cats, 3" Y pipe, and I believe O2 extensions too.

tarajerame- have you instaled obx headers. I have seen them and JBA, OBX and pacesetter on ebay and the price isn't that bad. I just know that there isn't much room in there and I don't want to modify fenders. Also some warp more than others and that is a pain taking off adjusting them and putting them back on. I like how they all advertise that they are bolt on installs, but there is allows hidden obsticles. I was hoping that someone had already installed and worked through the headaches for me.

Bolt in? Yes
You will likely brake your dip stick tube pulling it out, and you will also need O2 extensions for the front ones.
You will throw a SES light because of not having cats. For that i would recommend the Gotts O2 mod.
WHAT??????????? why would you install something that is proven worthless (unless it was a stock part direct replacement due to damage??)
you use 02 sensors with the long tubes as well

I'm going to bump this one: From my quick searches, it seems like the Pacesetters are 1.75" primaries and many of the others are 1.625". WAAAAY too big, IMHO. From my experience, 1.5" LT headers are fine in a car for a bit over 300 hp, and for the truck you're going to want the headers working at peak torque and you'd probably willingly sacrifice top end a little bit. I'd prefer to see 1.5" headers, even 1.375" (!!!) for a naturally aspirated 4.6/5.4.
Does anyone know of any quality girlyman headers like the ones I'm talking about?

Bigger is not always better.

Ok. Yes, that is true. The 1 5/8s tubes should be just find for you, Dynatechs set is 1 5/8s. They will greatly help your horsepower numbers also so you wont be stuck at 250.
