New aftermarket intake is causing leaning codes

I purchased an aem intake and installed last week. Now it is causing 0171 and 0173 (I think, can't quite remember the codes) But I know it says lean on bank 1 and 2.

I had the same problem, codes are P0171 and P0174.

I had the same problem, and i even had a tuner on my truck. I returned it.
It started to make my truck run like crap.

Even though the 2v engines do not require custom tuned for intakes, it would be best if you were running a custom tune for the intake. If not I would return it and get something smaller such as the S&B kit.

It seems that most problems have been with AEM. Has anyone called AEM tech and ask how to fix the problem?

I have an AEM intake installed in my 04 F150 and so far haven't experienced and problem's. I haven't received any lean code's yet. I'm planning on getting a gryphon this month but am still waiting for the upgrade sell to start. I know that my truck could be running lean right now so I don't need my memory refreshed.

you aren`t gonna lean out a 2v with an intake. Check for vacuum leaks. Look at the pcv elbow at the back of the throttle body as well as the IAC and EGR and everything connection on the new intake. Did you reset your computer after installing the intake by unhooking the battery and turning the lights on?

X2

it's the 3 valve 5.4's that run lean due to the intakes

After I installed an aem intake. My truck started showing leaning codes. This was last week when I installed. Today I looked at it and found that the temperture sensor was a little loose. I notice at the time of install but figure that was just the way it was so, today I made it apermanently attached to the tube and no more leaning. At least not for the time being. I also hooked up the scanner to see the numbers. At max airflow was at 15lbs/min, temperture was at 51f. Does anyone know the factory setup numbers.
