magnaflow vs flowmaster?

just wondering what would be better for a towing application, i'm installing longtues, s&b intake hi flow cats 3in y pipe and custom gryphon tunes, just wondering if the chambered flowmaster would be better for towing? i know magnaflow are a staight through design any input would be great

trailer is 4100 empty 6k fully loaded

which one do you like listening to???

I'd run dual 2.5 inch pipes with an H-pipe and flowmaster super 44's but the magnaflow guys will be on here in a bit screaming about X pipes and maggies

the only dyno sheets people have tossed up are of 5.0 mustangs with different exhaust systems...

jump on you tube and listen to some sound clips and then pick the muffler you like the sound of best

The more straight through the better. Chambered not being straight through I wouldn't suggest it but its all about sound preference. I would avoid true duals too, even though 2.25" true duals with an X is really prefered, a 3" single exhaust would perform much healthier especially with LTs.

thanks for the posts. i'm not looking for a ton of sound, i'm actually looking to keep the cab noise down especially when towing as i have a 2 yr old and a 1 month old, the magnaflow part numbers i was looking at are 12590 and 12279 for flow master it'd be a 50 series big block or 70 series big block, i want it to sound nice and throaty when i stomp on it but otherwise be fairly quiet

well I dont really know about the magnaflow mufflers that you picked out, But flowmasters are louder than maggies. Never heard the 70 series, but the 50 series are not that loud. Just listen to alot of sound clips, so that you can make the best decision for you.

Hell if you are spending all that money on those other mods, you might as well go all out with the muffler too and get a Borla. Nothing matches their performance or 304 stainless durability, and they sound awesome!

i'd look at the borla but it seems to hav ea smaller case so its likely going to be louder and for the family sake i want to go with the ones mentioned if it weren't for the young kids i'd go with a louder muffler, thanks for the suggestion though

Let me get you some.

Magnaflow= http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NHs-nROThUs thanks Darren

Flowmaster=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v6aTkHz1pwQ That's the 4.6 but the 5.4 would be a little louder.

Can't find a Borla, but if I run across one I'll send it to you.

Keep in mind that the interior noise would be a little less noisey with a non true dual set up

Also fixed your Flowmaster link.

If you're getting Gryphon custom tunes, why not just ask Bill which would be best? His non-biased opinion would be based on experience tuning for such things. Just my .02 ...
