SISO or SIDO MBRP exhaust?
I never dealt with an MBRP kit, but Magnaflow uses a 5x8x18 muffler 3" in 2.5" dual out or 3" single out.
The MBRP SI/SO muffler is 19" circumference. So circumference divided by Pi is roughly 6" diameter and 20" in length not counting where you connect the inlet and outlet pipes. The mid-pipe (from the cat back to the muffler) is 3 1/2" (11" circumference). The exit pipe is also 3 1/2".
So if I have this right after reading thru other posts.. The longer the muffler the quieter the exhaust. Both the MBRP and Magnaflow are "Flow Thru" correct?
Which would make the Magnaflow louder than the MBRP because the MBRP is longer?

I think my MBRP SIDO on my 08 Screw is quieter than a coworker's Magnaflow SISO on his 04 Screw. What effect the newness of my system has on it I don't know. I've heard they get louder over time. The model year coupled with the number of cats may affect it as well. Both trucks are FX4s.
The Magnaflows internal build is tightly packed Rock wool with a preforated mesh tube. Thats what keeps them very low toned at idle, but their tone design is to give a straight piped sound but deep and much quieter. As for MBRP not sure, never got the change to play with one of those mufflers yet. The Magnaflows deep tone could out-louden MBRPs but I think MBRP can out-loud it in terms of acceleration due to its much larger pipe diameter size.
UPS was here to deliver the new exhaust, but I wasn't home
That's alright though cause I wont have time to install until Saturday anyway. But it would have been nice to look at while I enjoyed a cold one and imagined what it will sound like

LMAO
Well i stopped by and picked up the exhaust. Got it home unpacked and inventored the box and decided looking at it wasn't good enough so i decided to see if I could get it on before dark. Got it on, but now I have to take it off and recut the midpipe
Taking the stock exhaust off was a breeze and took all of about 10 minutes from the time I crawled under the truck...thanks to the tips to lube the hangers and remove that little clip on the muffler hanger. Had me thinking damn this is going to be easy.
Then it was time to cut the midpipe to 37". Let me say cutting stainless steel with a dull hack saw doesn't work worth a hoot. So I take the pipe to the town muffler shop and the guy was nice enough to stop was he was doing and cut the pipe...benefit of small towns I guess. Get it home crawl back under the truck and install. I realized the pipe might be to long when I was installing the piece that goes over the axle because it took too much effort to get it on. I even removed the rear hanger bracket to hook up this section then reattched it. Get all tightened down and double check the hangers. The last two are about 1/2" from seating flush against the rubber. Sometimes I am too **** regarding detail so I decided I would press and check them again after I take it around the block.
Well start the truck and SWEET sound to the ears
Enjoying the symphony of a good exhaust I let it run for a few minutes while I crawl back under the truck to see if I hear any leaks. Sure enough, where the rear axle piece meets the muffler it was leaking. Play with a few minutes, tighten the clamp as tight as I can get it and managed to stop the leak for test ride.
Exhuast is a little louder than I expected in the cab, but it is not bad. Don't know if it did any seat of the pants improvements as I was to focused on the sound.
Get home, leave the truck running and check for leaks and the hanger positions. Could see lines on the exhaust where moisture had escaped the joint that was previuosly leaking. In additioon to this, the hanger for the muffler was barely in the rubber at this point. This tells me something wasn't done right and I start the process of elimination.
I knew everything was lined up, some areas took more effort than others but it was on and all the clamps were guaranteed tight and on straight. So I figure the midpipe was still to long. I measured the piece that was left over after cutting the pipe and determined it was 1/4" to short which means the pipe on the truck is 1/4" to long. I am hoping this is my problem and tomorrow I will go buy a zaw saw, pull off the exhaust, cut probably 1/2" off and reinstall. I say 1/2" because of where the tip exits the rear and how much of the hangars were not in the boots. Hopefully it works...find out tomorrow.

I does take some torque to get the band clamps tight. The joints on mine slid apart a little after my first run.I loosened them all up slid pipes back together and retightened.I was worried that I would break the bolts because they are soft stainless but they can handle alot of torque.
That's Nice
Took the exhaust off, had the midpipe cut another 1/4 - 1/2 inch and managed to get everyhting lined up nice. The biggest pain was the hanger before the muffler. I would get everything aligned perfect then hook this hanger per directions and the rest would come out of alignment since it was not tightened down. Long story short, I worked with it until everything was right and couldn't be happier
This exhaust sounds great
Also installed my AF1 3" CAI today. Looks great and is not as loud as I thought from a few of the threads I read. Definitely a nice add on, cleans up the engine compartment nicely. Now time to decide on where to get custome tunes.
After filling up the gas tank and reseting the MPG, I climbed to 23 MPG. Granted it didn't stay there but I still averaged 21 MPG with normal driving and thought that was one heck of an improvement from 17-18. I always thought that was just marketing.
On a side note, I just upgraded my stock speakers to polks and added a slaeen rockford fosgate before adding the exhuast and CAI and don't even turn the stereo on now
I am sure it will wear off but for now I likes it

Congrats on your sucessful install of the exhaust, and CAI. I just bought a Gryphon custom tune. Haven't received it yet but I really like the specs I have read.
