2008 5.4 exhaust q?

Just wondering what ford used for a muffler and catalytic converter with the 08's.

My dads truck sounds a lot louder/throatier at startup and driving then my 97 5.4.

There looks to be an obvious size difference in the piping and his is stock as far as I know but that's the only difference I can see thus far. He got it right from the dealer...

2008s have a 30 - 32" muffler I would believe, I know 2004s & 2005s is 32". And '08s have two cats instead of four like your has. His '08s OEM size should be all 2.5" with 2.75" tailpipe.

I never measured my stock 08 muffler.......but it was considerably smaller than my father's stock 07 - Both 5.4's?
I was surprised to see that much of a difference.......it was more than 2" shorter I know that. Quite a bit smaller in diameter as well.

The lack of cats makes sense for some of the sound, I'll get under it soon to check and see if its got an aftermarket muffler too.
