Which intake should I buy?

Which brand makes the best intake system? I have had both KnN and an Airaid intake on past trucks and could not really tell a difference between them. I am about to make my decision based on price if there really is no difference. What do you recommend?

Have you considered doing Jack's modification?

Do you have a tuner or planning on getting one? Keep in mind that the 2004s and 2005s especially are subject to running lean with a CAI and no custom tunes. Also, unless you have custom tunes, you really do not get a lot of benefit from the extra air.

Here is a link to Jack's mod.

I had my stock intake designed similar to Jack's and alway's wondered how an aftermarket intake could really porduce more power until I got my AEM installed yesterday. It added a nice increase of power over the factory intake mod. My suggestion is to like I did and find a good deal on a used K&N in the classified's. I bought mine for $200 and have seen K&N's go for that price also.

Are you really sure or is it the noise that gives the percption of power? do you havecustom tunes? If not, then your PCM is not really using the available air.

Bill at PHP did some dyno tests and discovered that removing the snorkle from the stock intake gave about as much permormance increase as a CAI. Just without the noise. Of course, the CAI looked better.

Contact them, do the swap and get custom tunes. They were having a sale on the swap, I think. The Edge is for stock engines only. You could very easily run lean. Besides, you will love the custom tunes!

The noise sure does make my mouth water so that could be the porblem. No I don't have custom tune's yet and I know that my stock tune isn't going to extract all the available power from my intake. It's gotta help a little though. If the PCM can accomodate for the extra airflow with the modified stock intake then it's gotta be able to adjust a little for the AEM intake also. My truck may have just been running 110% yesterday but even with my stock tire's installed on my truck i've never been able to drive 110mph in truck with it in overdrive. Usually it would just drop back down to around 100mph or downshift to maintain 110. Idk I may just be delusional!
