i cut out my own rear cats on my 98 f150 4.6L and drove it to an exhaust shop and told the guy i cut out old glass packs and wanted straight pipe put in. if the shop has no knowledge of cats ever being there, they should do it.

Some areas wont do it, some will but require you to put 4 cats back in, and others are cool with it and agree to do the work. I had the same problem as you do, no one would do it, so I just cut my rear cats out and called it done.

Maybe, I offered a shop $200 cash to do it ( with supplied cats ) and told them that if I got in trouble, they never installed them, still didn't bite...

Ask if someone (one of the employees) is willing to do it on the side for you. A lot of shops won't touch them. Some shop managers will even let their employees use an open bay as long as they're not on the clock.

That or some shops will have a bay that doesn't get used much. Sometimes there's just not enough guys working to have all the bays being used. In cases like that, an employee that's not on the clock can utilize that bay. Whatever gets it done.
