Muffler Removal...

i got a 2004 Ford F150 with the 5.4l and i was wondering if anyone can tell me how my Truck would sound without the Muffler in place...i still got all my Cats in place...Just wondering how my truck would sound if i cut out the muffler and placed it with a Straight Pipe...

i hate it. my muffler broke so im pretty much running the same deal. its loud and ridiculous to go on long trips with. i hate towing my boat with it like it is.

it sounds decent, especially at idle but its just so loud.

If you want it loud I say do it, the sound is pretty good to me, but it will get to you after a few long drives

I replaced the muffler with a stright pipe and Y pipe to 2 1/2in. duals out the back and put 3 1/2 X 18 Magnaflow tips and it has a deep low sound, that dosen't crack, when I get on it. The sound won't drive ya nuts on long runs and helped the gas also. I've had this same setup on a 1996 5.8L Bronco and had them exit behind the rear wheels and it sounded great also, but it is to much on long runs with the windows down. I get all the parts needed on Ebay motors, from mad hatter girl, at a very desent price. The system Comes everything needed to install and everything fits like it should. I've got this on a 2002 FX4 5.4L and a 1996 F150 4X4 long box 5.8L that I drive, and am very happy with them. Just start behind the cat and go to the rear bumper and check Laws for your state before hand.

muffler

When i had my 99 f150, I LOVED the sound of that truck!!

it had the 5.4, but put on Dual 3 inch from cat back, out the back, with NO muffler. That sounded Awsome!! It wasn't that damn crackling, it was a low GRRRR

But, with 5.4 3 valve, i'm not sure how that would sound AND what everyone says on here, you will loose some bottom end.

I know i didn't loose any bottom on the 99 5.4

It'll be alittle quieter than this truck. That is an 08 with 2 cats, you have an 04 with 4 cats. I have an 04 and did the exact same thing you are thinking of doing and mine isn't nearly that loud. Although that truck in the vid has dumped exhaust and mine has a straight pipe in the place of the muffler with the rest of the stock tailpipe.

If I were to do it over again I probably wouldn't do it, it felt like I lost a little bit of low end. I just wanted noise until I got the ROR. I should of waited because it sounds kind of hillbilly.

I'll try to get a vid on mine pretty soon for ya.

It is loud on a cold startup but after it warms up you can barely hear it idling 20ft away. And its only semi loud under hard exceleration.

Ok, try these.

The videos sound louder on my computer than it actually is. Maybe I should just turn the speakers down a bit.

That wont be so bad. At least its not like roaring under your truck. I removed my muffler for a day to weld it up. It was so loud, trying to think was impossible. Now that you have it shooting out the back/side, it probably wont sound too bad, as if it were just right under the truck.

Like others said, since yours is a 04 it will be a bit quieter than the first videos. If you do it, you have to like a loud exhaust, and not mind drone in the cab. I did it to my 07 (only 2 cats) And its pretty loud. But I love it!!! And I dont mind the drone at all. I could drive for hours with it. Also depending on the RPM's, it can be dead silent. Here is mine, not the best sounding video but gives you an idea of what its like with 2 cats.

First run is with windows up, second down.
