Yes it will because gutting is the same thing as removing the cats. There wont be a catalyst inside to burn the gases. It wont kill your performance but in winter your engine valves will be at risk of bending since mufflers are either chambered or straight through with no filter to block the cold from coming up through the exhaust, start ups will be risky when really cold. But your truck will still run well.

Hey Guys I have been looking around and checking some stuff out . I Also have that wonderful year 04 with the 4 cats . Thanks to DarrenWS6 I got some sound with taking out the 2 rear cats . I as well as most want to get rid of the pre cats and just run highflows . If you look under the truck the first O2s are before the pre cats ,and then the other set is in the middle of the pre and the rear cats . Im going to try to Leave the first set of O2s where they are and cut out the pre cats and then run the 2nd set of O2s after the highflows . I will let you know What happends . I dont see why it wont work its pretty much doing the same thing . What do you think?
Sounds like a plan American732. You will want to leave the front O2s alone because those are what read your air & fuel mixture, truck will not run without them. The rear O2s only monitor exhaust fume efficiency.
