to each his own... Take into consideration you won't have that "performance tuned" sound. And at low speed when you punch the gas, it will sound like bullets shooting off... My buddy has true dual straight pipes running straight out the back on his '03 5.4.... it sounds nice when he cranks it, but like I said, when he takes off it sounds like a loud pop gun. On the other hand, another guy that has an '08 or '07 5.4 on campus is straightpiped and sounds NICE when hes cruising.

in my opinion the only reason people go to straight pipes is because they want the "sound of power" that thier truck does not have so they make a racket trying to get up to 35mph and set off car alarms...
if you a good tone that's still loud get a set flowmaster super44's with an H pipe and 3.5 or 4 X 18 inch tips

x2! Get Flowmaster Super44's! It will give you a nice rumble w/o sounding TOO loud. IMHO - mine and probly mine alone - its hard to get a truck to be too loud but there's a point at which MOST people get REALLY TIRED of hearing it. And if you go straight pipes, you'll probly be fine and sound nice... but I'm not sure I would cut off the cats... I know its illegal, but I also know of several people down here who do it to their trucks, cameros, and mustangs that have no cats, and the trucks are almost too loud, but the mustangs... ooohhhhh mannnn, they just purr... man they sound good

Your not going to loose hp or mpg, the cats take care of all the back pressure. My setup is in my sig, give it a listen. The guys truck that pops really bad is because he doesn't have an H or X pipe. Also to everyone mouthing straights, if you don't like the sound of my truck I don't really give a crap I did it for me not for you.
