Muffer for 04 5.4L
Muffer for 04 5.4L
I want to just put a muffler on my truck to give it some rumble. I want to keep the stock look to it. I have a 04 supercab 4x4 with the 5.4l what does anyone recommend I put on it. Also do I need to have it welded it in or can I just clamp it in. Thanks
I suggest a Magnaflow muffler swap. What type of volume do you want? Loud? Calm but loud? calm and quiet?
You can clamp it in yourself but use compressed air and stainless clamps because the huge OEM muffler and a custom aftermarket muffler there will be quite a gap between the two that you will need to re-fill with more pipe.
And for future reference you should post your aftermarket questions in the aftermarket section

There are so many different sounding mufflers on the market with different tones. You need to be a little more specific on the sound you are looking for. At this point, you are so vague on what you want that my only advice is go to a muffler shop and let them do something for you. Oh, and I'm totally against clamps. I know they can seal just fine, but I prefer welds. They look better and cost almost nothing to have done at a shop.
Yeah sorry that was vague, but all I really want is a nice rumble to it and when I step on it kind of comes alive. I don't want something that makes tons of cab noise where I am deaf from it. Just want to go a cheap route I am not in to the preformance of it. Thanks guys

That would be a great sounding muffler.
I put a super 44 flowmaster si/so on, in place of the stock muffler, before i had my duals put on, and it looked and sounded great! Super 44 has a great loud rumble to it when you put the hammer down, and nice and mild toned when at idle.

I have an 18 inch magnaflow welded in place of my stock muffler and it might be more what your looking for. I wanted to keep mine kinda quiet with a nice tone, but no drone on the highway. I do alot of highway driving. After a few hours of reading and thought i went with the 18 inch over the 14. It sounds very good. I have never heard the 14 inch in person so i cant tell you how much louder it would be. But the 18 inch magnaflow wont let you down. It might be closer to what your looking for IMO. Hope this has helped
