WHAT??!! Magnaflows response scares me.

I have my mind made up on my 'new exhaust' (#12268 si/do with tips#35114) and was lurking around Magnaflows' website and read this.

" MagnaFlow's Frequently Asked Questions

Question: Does a dual cat-back exhaust system perform better than a single?

Answer: In most cases a single exhaust will give you better torque and horsepower. The exception would be a heavily modified engine. "

I have no other plans on 'heavily modifying my engine' other than maybe just in drop in K&N filter.

What gives here? I have a 6000lb I tow and can't afford any torque or horsepower loss.

Now I'm thinking of just sticking to all stock piping and just changing out the muffler si/so #12226? That should give me the sound and peformance 'upgrade'?

Thoughts?

The amount of tq and hp loss you could possibly experience is negligable. I have a straight pipe which according to most, losses HP. But I can honestly tell you that you wouldnt know it.

The SI/SO will retain a 100% velocity, the SI/DO goes from 3" to dual 2.5" which results in a nice sound but a very very slight loss, un-noticeable to daily driving, but noticeable during towing.

Maybe I should have chosen a better word than scares, lol, thing is I do not want to lose low end torque because I do tow my boat with it. It weighs around 6000lbs fully loaded. I'll probably end up sticking to the si/so muffler.

i was told siso gives you more torque than sido. So I went with siso magnaflow exhaust. Since I pull a 6700 lb camper

Which muffler did you go with? Did you keep the stock piping? Tip?

I went with the 12226 mainly because I like the SI/SO look. I put a 4" tip on there as well. i tow various things from tractors to four wheelers with my truck and haven't noticed any loss in HP or torque.

That's what I'm gonna end up doing, si/so. I may not notice a difference in torque/hp going the si/do route, but I'd rather not risk it.

You are worried about 3-4 hp and 3-4 ftlbs of torque when you are pulling a 6000lb trailer.
Seriously if you like the look of the duals go with it, there is NO way you will notice a difference in power, towing or not.
