Exaust Advice Please
Exaust Advice Please
I currently have a Gibson Supertruck exhaust on my 04 Screw 5.4L. I am not really happy with the sound or the performance. I am going to by the dynatech longtube with cats soon, but I'm gonna replace the cat-back now. I am leaning toward the Corsa side exit or the Magnaflow in front of the p-tire sorta like my gibson. My real goal is to get back some torque that I lost with the Gibson.
List of current mods:
Edge Evolution Performance L3
Gibson Supertruck Exhaust
Troyer Electric Fans
Troyer Underdrive Pulleys
AF1 Intake
Thanks in advance,
grimz

Thanks Park. I just picked up the Corsa #14360 for $549 shipped on ebay. I will let you know how it works out. PS I have a Gibson Supertruck exhaust for $100 plus shipping if anyones interested.
hey i just went and got new exhaust installed i got 3 inch pipe from cat back with no muffler with 4 inch tips and a k&n intake system and i think its best sounding truck ive ever heard. gives a real aggressive sound sometimes even a back fire which sounds amazing
Id go with a magnaflow X'ed up. Magnaflow exhaust delivers the sound and performance we all love.

I put the Corsa kit on today. Pretty quiet in the cab compared to the Gibson. Although anything is quite compared to the cats and intermediate pipe I have been running for the last week. The tips look incredible. I didn't get back the torque that I wanted, but I'm still waiting for my FPLDM to come in. My Edge has been Throwing the Fuel Pump Line Driver Module Offline code for about two weeks now. I'm hoping it has something to do with my lack of power. I'm also second-guessing my decision to go with the AF1. Lots of noise and my MPG went south. My intake is louder then my exhaust. I think I'm gonna send the edge to become a gryphon and see what happens.
Update guys.
I love the new setup. Drove about 100 miles today and really had a chance to put it through its paces. Its quiet compared to most performance exhausts. It has a different sound then the throaty loud exhausts I've had like the Flowmaster and Gibson. It sounds almost like a big outboard marine motor, really tight and tuned. My mpg improved by about 1, but I was beating on it pretty hard.
I actually can use my hands-free setup in my TomTom now. It is really quiet in the cab. I always thought loudness was a by-product of performance. Not the case apparently.
The muffler is huge! It is about 24" long and oval with its widest point being almost 14". The muffler is stainless and appears to be high-quality. The pipe is 3" and heavy gauge. The tips are the best I have ever seen. The muffler is straight through. 3" diameter all of the way straight through with no baffles. I am suprised that it is as quite as it is.
The long and short of it is that I love the setup and I highly recomend it.

Is a magnaflow system easy to install? I just read another post where someone just cut off the muffler and welded a short pipe for $12 bucks. http://s172.photobucket.com/albums/w...t=truckmov.flv
I know nothing about aftermarket exahaust systems and would appreciate input or links. I'm willing to put out the $550 if it's worth it and if I can do it myself. But, if I can achieve similiar results for $12.00, would this not be the most prudent approach??? Input is most appreciated!!!
Thanks much,
Lance

I realized the answer upon sleeping on it. I ordered the magnaflow for my 06' Dakota but, would like to do so to my 08' F250 plow truck down the road. I asked the tech at Magnaflow why I couldn't just change out mufflers and he said it's the mandrel bends that help to achive overall results. But aren't all stock exhaust bended here and there? What If I put the magnaflow muffler from the kit form the Dakota on the plow truck and got a 14" muffler for the Dakota if I wanted the Dakota louder. Afterall, I don't want a plow truck too loud! Would I get decent sound from the 18 magnaflow muffler on the F250. Lord knows a simple exhaust ain't going to get that 5.4 F250 going any faster
And a mag muffler is 1/5 the $ vs a system!

yea for the f250 the exhaust wont get it goin much better, so just throw in a supercharger headers nitrous and a chip you should notice some difference at least
