Magnaflow is a deep toned muffler dude, I agree Roush ( Borla manufacturing ) make better mufflers, but no one suggested him the $570 Magnaflow kit, they suggested the $86.00 Magnaflow SI/DO.

I never mentioned the price on this thread. ???

All I was saying is that if he is looking for a deeper tone he's most likely going to be disappointed with a Magnaflow. Some Magnaflow's sound pretty nice but your standard one (as you mentioned above) isn't going to sound like the one on your truck. Many of the ones I've experienced both on my own vehicle as well as others sound just a tiny bit louder than stock.

hmm, have your personally experienced this muffler on these trucks? And it doesn't give off a heavy deep sound? After a 1,000 miles of break in pressure it sound sound great. I guess its the factory converters holding it back?

I have experienced Magnaflow's on our trucks...both the 4.6 and 5.4. The 4.6 was actually an Expedition. Also have heard them on two different Rams and a Titan. I still stand by my statement above.

They do give a different tone but still doesn't sound much more than stock.

Well I can see what you mean. When I got mine installed they were quite calm and quiet, not reaching my expectations. Then I put 2,000 miles on them, they got better, pulled the rear cats and it really got better, now have almost 9000 miles on them and they're great, except at idle.

I understand that they do change after some miles have been put on them. The ones I had heard were not brand new. You may remember my post when I put on my Hooker. I hated the thing. Now as time has passed I love it. Don't know if my type of muffler is one that breaks in or not but I do know that the tone went from disappointing to very pleased.

I sort of remember. That sounds like a type of wrapped internal muffler ( break in ).

so what is the deal! is it going to be worth getting the magnaflow 14"si/do with dual exits or not! I just want a deep tone that I can really hear when I get on it, but not too exagerated!

Sounds better when you get on it? Well i would recommend a flowmaster then. Magnaflows dont sound great in the higher RPMs, My Borla sounds pretty good, but the Flowmaster i previously had friggin screamed at 3000+.

everyone has to pull thier cats in order to get the maggies to sounds decent at all, so if you're leaving your cats in place get a flowmaster

Actually.. I agree with you on that one. My 11" bodies sounded like an 18" body when I got them, till I put more miles on them and removed the rears it got louder obviously, these damn stock cats kill so much sound.
