Magnaflow Part# Questions

Well after finally finding a few pictures of a couple of the catbacks I was looking into buying, it looks like none of them will accomplish what I want to do with how I want the tips to exit the truck. So it looks like I'll be buying a muffler and tips and hope I can find an exhaust shop around here to do the work if I bring in my own parts.

Being in TX, stainless isn't a big deal, but Magnaflow is at the top of my list as far as manufacturers go. I've done hours and hours of research here and elsewhere and they seem to be the way to go.

My truck sees a LOT of highway so I want something pretty loud and agressive, but not too drony for long trips.

So after looking over the site, I narrowed it down to a few of the Oval mufflers and can't decide between double wall or single wall tips. Do the double sound different?

I'm looking at 12288 for the muffler. 3" in and dual 2.5" out, 18" long, satin stainless series oval 5"x8".

I'm looking at the 15 degree rolled tips and the 15 degree angle tips. Both are 4" outlet, 22" long, and 2.5" inlet. One is the dual wall and one is single wall.

Part #'s 35119 and 35109

Opinions? Thoughts? Ideas? Any better muffler options out there to accomplish what i want?

Thanks

I would suggest the 11" body or 14" SI/DO body. I dont believe the 18" will suit your preference for loud and aggressive.

Double wall tips are quieter.

I'd go with an 11" or 14" muffler, if you want pretty loud and aggressive, you'd probably be better off going true duals rather than just swapping out your muffler. Would help us a little more if we knew more about your truck. I've got a pair of 14" Maggies, true duals, x-piped with my rear cats removed. (Had high flows before wanted a little more rumble). Check out the clips in my sig, and GREAT choice going with Magnaflow! Check out performancepeddler.com for your parts, got all of mine there at a GREAT price and they typically throw in free shipping!

I was thinking the same thing in looking for a 14" SI/DO, but looking over Magnaflows site, anything that was SI/DO with 3" in and 2.5" out was no shorter than 18". Am I missing something on the site? Anyone know the part# off hand?

Looks like the 14" body is 12198 if I am reading Summit's site correctly.

The truck is a 2005 FX4 5.4 with no performance mods to speak of other than a tune at this point. PLanning on the S&B intake, the exhaust, having it retuned, and then that being it for performance.

http://www.performancepeddler.com/de...CT_ID=MAG12198

add it to your cart and they'll let you "make an offer" doesn't matter what offer you make, they'll send you a code "bestoffer4em" to punch in at checkout, and they'll sell it to you for $76.08 with FREE SHIPPING.

You can also call them, they'll usually beat their web prices over the phone.

Hey DarrenWS..

Heard your truck, gives me a good benchmark. I want something less throaty. Where it is hard to notice on the highway, gives you a little noise on acceleration.

I am want to stick with just a new muffler, prob gonna keep existing pipes.

Thanks!!

Put the 11266 18" body with offset ends, 2.5" inlet/outlet and you'll be good.
