Rear Cat Delete Disappointment

Couldn't wait till tonight so I took the morning off and deleted my rear high flows this morning, leaving just gutted precats. This blows my mind, but I think my truck is quieter now.... will post vids tonight.

Any ideas on why it'd be quieter?

hmm, Mine got louder and better sounding after my clamps were air compress tightened. We could hear a little air leaking after we did the job. Are you sure yours are as tight as they can be that they indent into the pipes? Did your re-set the negative battery terminal after starting it after completing? And out of curiosity, gutted pre-cats, no rears, do you have a CEL?

If you already had highflows, and no other cats you wont get any louder then you already are. Highflows are a straight through design without any restriction, so you get full performance and volume already......

Tight? I welded the pipes in, maybe I'm a crappy welder, lol. Got underneath, nothing seems to be leaking. Didn't unhook the battery either, just went out and shot about 30 min of video, still no code thrown. First video's uploading, link here shortly.

try two consecutive highway drives of atleast 25 miles and see if it throws any codes. Drive 25m, shut off, cool down, drive 25miles and it might pop it....

lol if I had the time I'd do that, I'm just going to continue daily driving it, if it pops it pops, if not no biggie.

Before (with high flows)

After (Gutted Pre-Cats only)

I think it sounds great from the video perspective, listening to it with my home theatre it sounds nearly exactly like mine does. I noticed with my rear cats out my interior noise sure did increase. You can have a listen of inside by the link below my sig ofcoarse. Have you ever had a friend ride your truck down the road for you? If so, do it again with your updated work and judge yourself. You will have a much rumblier/grumble sound at a higher pitched note I'll bet you. You probably expected a hell of alot more sound, but you already ad hi-flows so lol.

I'm guessing when you guys mess with your cats, your all doing it yourself because of all the tree-hugging laws right??

Not a concern in South Georgia, gotta be in the Atlanta area before they inspect or "sniff" your vehicle. I still have 2 cats, so I'm not a completely giving mother nature the finger.

Just testing, can put them back in no problem. Probably going to reinstall them without the precats when I get the headers in.
