tip question

I have an 06 screw. I'm looking at ordering an 18 inch magnaflow and a tip as well. Here's my thinking on the tip....obviously a 2.5 inlet, but what about length? is a 22 inch too long? other than that, I see a 12 inch (magnaflow 35204) When searching this forum, it's consensus to just buy a tip and have the shop install it, but looking at my oem tailpipe, and I'm assuming the shop will run the new pipe close to the original location, a 22 would be too long. Any thoughts? Thanks

if you are going to run dual exhaust, 22" tips look great. but if your just doin a single exit, then the shorter one will look better.

go with a 4" tip

I'm just doing single....I don't see a magnaflow tip with 2.5 inlet and 4inch outlet. I'm assuming I need a 2.5 inlet, or will the exhaust shop make a 3 inch inlet fit?

If you are only adding a muffler and keeping it 2.5", then yes 2.5" will be alright. What I would do since your keeping it all single is run it 3" from Y back. Healthiest performing exhaust right there. There are 2.5" inlet to 4" outlet tips. Mine are 4x18s and 2.5" inlets. I would go with a 12" long one since your going single exit.

Well we make a bolt on tip that is 12" Long with a 3.5" Diameter on the exit. This fits 2.5" to 3" Tail Pipe. The part # is 35209. Thats probably going to be the closest one. Most of our other tips are a weld on. This is the link below to our clamp on tips.

If you want to weld it on you can use this link and find a better option.

Excuse me? What do you mean by that? Structrally Magnaflow products are great, their tips are T-304 grade polished stainless, and very strong and durable. The 4x12s on my Silverado after cleaned up, looked great even after winter and no dings in them even with all the stones thrown at them.

Darren, dont even waste your time asking him for clarification.

That type of post itself is weak because its vague. Sounds like its intended to be a shot at the Maggie Rep which isnt necessary

Wow...

You want to know the strength of magnaflow tips? I backed into a rock cliff, bent my tailpipe, ran over the tip then drug it a quarter mile and all it's got are a few scratches! I'll post photos if you'd like.

Yeah your right. I take an offense when someone insults Magnaflow products because they're excellent, and they're only quiet during the first couple thousand miles, and I really like my setup & proud of Magnaflow

I went with the 12259 3in 3out and 35116. This is from Darren's suggestion. Should be here next wednesday. It'll be 3 inches diameter from the y to 4 inch tip. Should sound just like the sound clip on magnaflow's site. Thanks for all ya'll help.
