Flowmaster Advice

2007 5.4L Bone Stock. I have a quote for a SI/DO anodized non-mandrel Flowmaster 50 with tips installed for 388.00. Is that a good quote? I'm looking for a nice throaty idle. Minimal interior volume, (nice sound system that I don't want to have to compete with.) more Horsepower and Better Gas Mileage. I definately don't want obnoxious. I was thinking I wanted the Magnaflow cause they sound nice, but the shop only sells flowmaster. Some of the exhaust clips I hear have a little backfiring on decelleration, I don't like that. Any opinions?

You can buy a muffler and take it to a shop to have it installed. They might charge you $20 more but I would rather supply parts than buy whatever is on their shelves. Economy would increase better with the Magnaflow muffler, but your overall deal is pretty decent. 50 Series sounds real good, and keeps the interior noise at a minimum. Sucks that its non mandrel though, but its not crushed/crimped bent right? If not, then I say go for it.

I had a local shop install a Flowmaster 50 series dual chamber on my '07. They simply found a muffler that had the same diameter inlet and outlet. Cut out the the factory muffler and welded in the Flowmaster. The 50 series was not too loud and yes you could hear it when you wanted to. They also welded on a stainless steel tip. I don't remember the exact price, but I am thinking it was around $250.00. The stainless steel tips are not cheap.

I run the magna flow on my truck and i agree with you on not wanting anything obnoxious. The magnaflow is smooth sounding and does not back fire, it sounds great after it breaks in and when the engine is under load, my only complaint is that maybe its a little too quiet. I do like hearing that grunt every now and then

Smooth bent, which is like mandrel bent, only it might be thinner in the bends, but not anything bad like crimped bent.

Good choice of muffler! Ask if they can make all bends mandrel, if not, then atleast smooth. Dont settle for crimped. If they dont charge awhole lot more maybe try going for stainless steel piping all around.

Thats a little pricey for SI/DO. My friend has a 2007 f150 and he got it installed with tips and muffler it was only 275.00. i got true duals on mine and it was around 375 for 2 mufflers and 2 tips. Maybe this will help you. and the mufflers were also flowmaster.

I have the Flowmaster 50 series, but mine is dumped. its true when they say the cab noise is a lot less, but when you wanna run it and hear it you can hear it. I would also add that its smart to go with the stainless steel even though it is more expensive it wont rust out and the tips stay shinin

I just got the 40 series SI/DO exiting straight out the back. I LOVE IT!!! It's got the nice deep tone without a lot of interior resonance. At speeds of 45-80 you would not even know it has aftermarket exhaust.

I ordered the SI/DO 44 off performancepeddler. Its the 9430452. and I ordered two 4x18" tips from performance-curve. My trucks a 05 screw 5.4. I talked to a shop today and they had an opening in about two weeks. I guess they must be okay since they are so busy. Oh another thing is that they dont use stainless steel tubing, but hell I am so anxious to get it installed!
