2.25" vs. 2.5" exhaust
2.25" vs. 2.5" exhaust
ok here we go, 2001 5.4, I know i want to do true duals with magnaflow hi-flows, and x-pipe, and 4x18inch tips. I have been doing some reading and just wondering what yall think about 2.25" vs 2.5" pipes. I'm pretty set on the 2.5", just seeing if theres any other opinions. I noticed a few other trucks on here with the same set up running 2.25" pipes. I rarely tow the boat or anything big, so that's not a concern.
Whats yalls opinion, 2.25" or 2.5"?

Most prefer 2.25" X piped for better low end torque, I however can not stand the poping and grumble of 2.25" duals, 2.5" is just right IMO, I have my economy, have a perfect sound, low end could be better but its still alright.
i read some other post from other members, doesn't seem to be a whole lot of feedback. Im pretty sure im going with 2.5" unless someone can convince me that 2.25" is better. Anyone else have any thoughts on the issue?
2.25" will be better for low-mid range performance and towing.
2.5" will be better for WOT performance and sound very slightly deeper.
The differences between the two, performance and sound, will be minimal. If this was a dedicated work/tow rig, I'd definately opt for the smaller pipes, but since it's not, 2.5" will be no problem.

there is already a post on 2.25" vs 2.5" at the bottom of this page.i drive my truck normal,:"not wot all the time",2.25" gave me exactly what i wanted,an i do not have the popping or any cackling going on,now if i had a short bed ,reg cab that i took to the strip-i'd run 2.5" which favors the top end...
