Why cant I do this Pro's/Cons

Saw this exit pipe on ebay.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...TQ:MOTORS:1123

Contrary to others, I really like the side exit in front of tire. (I do like rear exit too, but tow trailers too much and dont like that sound bouncing off them sound while towing)
So why cant I just replace exixting ford muffler with a nice 14 or 18" Magnaflow Si/So and run the pipe out of the muffler into this?

Cheap and effective way to get the look i want and a nice loud sound right?
Please give me any issues you see with doing it this way...tHanks

Truck is 04 New body with Screw and 5.5 bed not that it matters for this application I guess.\\Thanks

keep this in mind-the shop that sold me my exhaust told me this- that with extended travel, the heat from the exhaust coming out in front of the tires will, over time, compromise the bead of the tire. i dont know how true this is, but it is something to keep in mind.

Its very possible. Your talking about a simple muffler swap with a Lightning style before-tire exit with that tip.

It wont ruin the tire because of the way our cat converters are set up. You will be fine. Otherwise Ford never would have done it on the Lightnings.

If anything the heat will make your tire warm up thus making it sticky which is always good for traction!

Thanks a lot guys. Do you all see an advantage or disadvantage to just using the SI/SO muffler setup over the SI/DO muffler? I think I understand that it will be a bit quieter, but shouldnt affect power anyway right?

Volume will be very close to the same A 100% single exhaust performns better than one with dual tailpipes or true duals, much better scavenging, better low end power.
