final decision

After reading ALL these threads, I've decided to go with Flowmaster exhaust. The only problem is what series to get now. Here is the application and criteria:

2005 5.4L SCab (Ext. cab) K&N drop in filter (otherwise stock)
I want a deep tone and something not to loud, but can still be heard well.
I want a medium interior resonance, but still be able to have a conversation or listen to the radio.

i have a 4.6L v8 and i have the Original 40 Flowmaster, i love mine, deep rumble but not too loud in the cab, but i would recommend the new Super 44 its more of a deeper rumble.

My clips should be at the bottom but if not heres my rev and take off

I just ordered my setup tonight, 40 series SI/DO 2.25 tailpipes with 3.5" rolled tips.
I'm looking for the same sound you are and this is what I settled for, got it off ebay from Magnum Exhaust for $220. Hopefully all turns out well and it sounds good.

The only Flowmaster worth it is the Super 44. Its the best sounding, and less restricted muffler they make.

I have a original 40 si-so. It sounds great down low in the rpms but romp down on it and it gets quiet! Guess its the complete opposite from a maggie. One day I will do a complete custom exhaust, but its down the list for me

I've got a Super 44 on mine, and it seems like one would get you the results you want. Very deep tone, not too loud but makes it presence known, and can be heard inside but isn't loud enough where it's annoying. My truck has a K+N and is stock from the manifolds to the muffler. Mine is a 3" SI/SO with a single 3" tailpipe and a 20" long 4" diameter tip that exits in the OEM location. Sorry I can't get a sound clip because my cell phone and digital camera can't record sound Hope the info helps though.

Ok. Thanks for all the help guys. I think I've made my decision... Flowmaster 40
SI 3"/DO 2.5" with some 3" or 3.5" tips exiting straight out the back.

Same setup as me except mine is a Crew. Love my Flowmaster 40, SIDO the rear.

Well i've never been much for the single chambers, partly due to they are only available in SI/SO configuration, and the 2 chamber sound is awesome to me, The Super 44 does flow better than a real Flowmaster 10, but yours I believe would flow better than the Super 44 if theres only 1 plate in it.
