glasspack thrush or cherrybomb?
So i'm about to run true duals from my cats back. I'm going to cut my rear cats off and I can't decide which glasspack muffler is louder. I want my truck to be "stupid loud". So guys, which is louder? A glasspack thrush or a cherrybomb glasspack? Everybody i've talked to says that glasspacks are louder than straight pipes by a little bit and they sound better. So answers please. Thanks.
Why insult your nice newer model truck with glasspacks? Straight pipes might not be as loud at idle but under the acceleration they will be. Reason they sound a little different and are louder at idle is because of the baffles and glass.
if your lucky enough to find some old GLASS packs with actual glass in them then you will have the "stupid loud" your looking for,
i never knew glasspacks are louder than straights, maybe the old actual glass ones,,,, humm
the insides arent glass anymore darren! keep up with the new times man lol,

my buddy has a new body f150 5.4. he had true dual straight piped exhaust on it and it was just flat out annoying to him. it was loud but he got tired of the sound. so we stuck a set of glasspacks on it and it sounded a little bit better but i cant say it is any louder than before. i personally liked the way it sounded without the glasspacks more when he drove off but i've never road in the truck so i dont know how it sounds inside.

Cherry Bomb vs Thrush
Well, I havent really messed with Thrush glasspacks but, I have Dual Cherry bomb glasspacks on my '97 F-150 (5.4L) and it is tough as nails. Idleing it isn't that loud at all put as soon as you press the gas it sounds sweet.

Do you want stupid loud accompanied by stupid sounding? I've had plenty of experience with glass packs, straight pipes, nothing but headers, etc. growing up in the hillbilly town i did and have not been impressed with any of them. Listen to 4.6 Punishers videos and see what you think, the magnapacks or bullets like he said are going to be much cleaner sounding, bullets, tend to sound a bit deeper whereas the magnapacks have a higher pitched tone to them.
Edit: ..and unless you don't care about some power loss, you might consider putting an X-pipe in that setup.

If you like "straight pipe" sound. You need 12" bullets and hi flows, hands down. By far deeper and better sounding than straights IMO. It won't be as loud, but the increase in sound quality will be worth it!
I feel like a ritard now...at least i wasn't the one to bring it back
