Another Noob needs exhaust

I am about as Noob as it gets. First post and thread. Anyway, I have an 07' 5.4 and want to get a good sounding exhaust. I travel quite a bit so I want something that I can handle on long trips. But I also want to avoid getting a new exhaust, and then wanting it louder in another year. Leaning towards Magnaflow after hearing a few on this site, but open to any suggestions.

How much are you willing to spend total? Any preference on pipe exit?

I'm running a true-dual setup that I had the local muffler shop guy fab together. I supplied the mufflers, x-pipe, and tips. I spent right about $400. It's plenty loud when I want it to be, but subtle enough that I don't get drowned out driving on the highway. Do it right the first time, and don't regret it later. Check my exhaust out from my signature and we'll go from there..

Nice. Actually Ive been checking out yours and Darrenws' before I posted. Not real particular on the price, just want a smooth sounding growl. Ive seen a few posts on the Borla or Roush, but they dont seem to sound any better than the Magnaflows. Maybe in person? How is your system in cab?

I'm pretty pleased with my Flowmaster Super 44 SI/DO.

You can with whichever you want, custom or kit, either way I'm sure it'll turn out great if you play your cards right. I bought my mufflers, x-pipe, and tips from performancepeddler, all Magnaflow, for about $180 I think.. I went with 2.5 piping throughout, and 3.5 tips. Then I had the local muffler shop fab it together and supply piping for another $220.

Here's a short clip from inside the cab with the windows down, I was cruising through the college parking lot at about 40mph tops.. I don't think the rpms ever got above 3500 or so.. not exactly the best video, but just food for thought..

I do like the price of the Maggie system and I can definitely handle that in cab sound. Hey Zeruin, I noticed you have the round instead of ovals, do you know if there is much sound/ perfomance difference between the two if they are the same size?

Wow that Roush off road does sound real good. I thought I read somewhere that there might be emission problems with that though........??

there is no way that a muffler will cause problems with emissions, thats all about the converters, dont touch the converters and youll be fine

My 11" Magnaflows are quite nice. Real loud rich deep exterior note, and I can hear them quite well inside. It doesn't get real annoying, steady accel sounds real good, climbing a hill at 2300rpm is quite loud inside.

I need to get interior videos.

You shouldnt have any issues with emissions and long as everything you do is post converter.

+1 for the Magnaflow. They're whole system in stainless. Sounds good. The only concern I have is your comment that you don't want to find yourself wanting a louder exhaust in another year.

If you want loud, I would say go with something louder - I understand the Flowmasters and Roush are louder. If you want a nice sound while accelerating but mellow tone while cruising hiway speeds, I'd recommend Magnaflow.

One thing I can say is don't go with Gibson exhaust - too quiet.

I had an '05 Scab with Magnaflow SIDO. I traded it for an '07 Screw and the wife said it didn't sound like a truck should - that it was too quiet with stock exhaust. I went with the Magnaflow again.

Everybody has their own opinion as to what sounds good to them - go to YouTube and search F150 exhaust. It will probably help you make a decision.

Thanks for the advice everyone. I was minutes away from pulling the trigger on a setup like Darrenws6 or Zeruins (Magnaflow true dual), until I heard more of the Roush off road. Man...........decisions decisions. Price is close enough and I like the idea of the catback so I can do it myself. What is everybodys opinion........true duels or roush. Anybody know how the roush is at cruising speeds. Also, I read that the Roush might actually have horse power gains, but wondering how much fact there is to this. Gas mileage gain would be nice.
