Still having problems with CAI noise

Ok, so I have installed a K & N CAI and flowmaster 40 series exhaust. There is a fluddering sound or popping sound coming from the air intake? what is causing that?

Share with us what you have checked so far (troubleshooting wise). The first thing I'd think of is something being loose and rubbing on the intake.

All the hose are tight no leaks. It almost seems like it runs lean now? Or the EGR Valve is fluttering?

Also, please resize your sig image. 500x100 is the size we are aiming for.

I too am having this problem, I installed a MAC intake on mine. I also agree it sounds as if the egr valve is fluttering. I have a 03 expedition with the 4.6 in it however. When you installed you intake did you have a small box that attached where the egr was, and if you did, did you remove this box. I am thinking that this is some kind of air make up box of some kind and maybe it needs to go back on to keep this from happening. Of course the problem is getting the hoses to match up without causing a leak because of the extreme angle the hoses will be at to get this to work. I will be watching this thread and will let you know what I find if I find something that works.

Question checked egr

Yes, i removed the box. this weekend i replaced a coil pack that went out and had a buddy reset the check engine light. we also ran a complete diagnostic test and the egr valve is fine. So i think that I am going to put the box back on and see if that helps. very frustrating.

Yeah it is frustrating, how many miles have you put on the vehicle since the noise. I will be honest, mine has stopped doing it on its own. I don't know if the computer has made adjustments for the air intake now or what but my noise has gone away. I just ordered a tuner from a guy over on the expedition forum and hopefully better gas mileage is on its way. If not I am probably moving on to toyota and the new tundra. If I am going to get this crappy of mileage I might as well get the 380 hp that goes with it, plus TRD now sells a S.C. for it, 502 hp.. WOW.

DUDE!! Now your just talking treason! Why would you buy a jap truck? I can see Chevy or Dodge. But Toyota!? No way! I will stick with a AMERICAN TRUCK that will last forever. Just my 2 cents on that.

I currently own, an 03 expy daily driver , an 04 f250 Fx4 for hauling, 08 expy el limited for the wife, and previously have owned an 97 f150, and 02 f250. I am a Ford guy, but you can't stick your head in the sand and ignore the fact that right now Toyota is making a pretty fine truck.
