New Exhaust

Hey Guys,
I'm about to get a 02' F-150 5.4. The first thing I'm gonna do is upgrade the exhaust.

I think I'm gonna go with Hi-Flo cats.... Is a universal fit just as good as a exact fit???? Is this gonna make my check engine light come on?

And I can't decide between Flowmaster 40 and Flowmaster 44.

Any advice on both is helpful,
Thanks guys,
Clint

Ok, I was 4SURE getting the super 44 till today, but my buddy got a super 40, and it sounds damn good. I just wanna be sure, I want the loudest, most aggresive sound I can get, but I want it to sound good. I don't wanna sound like trash, ya know?

And the cats,.... Universal or custom fit???
And you can turn off the light with the programmer?

Thanks for all the help guys, much appreciated!!!

So ya'll think a single chamber; single in/dual out Super 44?
How about the cats? I'm thinking about getting 2 pype's high flow universal cats. Good call? What are the benefits of those??
Thanks again

The Super 44 is the best Flowmaster. The other 40 series line can not compete sound wise, and they do not flow as good as the super 44. I believe a 2 chamber muffler sounds a bit better toned than a 1 chamber muffler will so that contributes to my vote for the Super 44. My old Silverado sounded incredible with true dual Super 44s.

Direct fit hi-flow cats are as they sound, direct fit and replacement. There wont be any CEL problems because its designed to work.

Universal is having a shop make it work, cut the old cats out, put the new ones in and weld up.

Sorry for my ignorance, but what is CEL?
What is the price difference in a universal and an exact fit model? Best brands to go with??
Thanks

Check Engine Light. If the O2 sensors read too much gases it will tell the computer, thus the CEL light elluminating which irritates the driver, and fails your inspection.

Price difference, a f-n lot! Universal cats sell $65 - $84 each depending on model, so that x2 would be your price.

Direct fits cost about $200 - $350 per side, so that x2, tell me what your gonna buy.

Magnaflow makes great cats, Bassani does also.

Super 44's are the only flowmaster's I would buy! They don't have the raspiness like the 40 series do! This is one of my favorite exhaust video's of the super 44 although these guy's aren't running any cat's!http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4XbpOj77YFU Here's an exhaust video of a 40 series! It doesn't sound bad but not as good or as loud as the super 44!http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tPdl9zrM7CM

Heres the clearest video I have yet found of a Super 44 on an F150 with cats and tailpipes.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_DS9kghnV5o

In person it would be deeper than it sounds. What I really wanna hear is a great quality camcorder recorded video of the Super 44 on an F150. I have great quality videos of my system, I may pop on Super 44s just to find out and shoot videos

Heard/know anything about pype's universal fits?
Can I just turn it off with my programmer?
