Hello to all -1st post- Flowmaster advice Needed!

Hey guys,

I joined not too long ago as I purchased an 08 Lariat Supercab in July of this year. I have spent some time kitting out the sound system 1st of all as that was my priority number 1! (gotta have the tunes sorted!)

Now its the exhaust. Firstly Im from Scotland and therefore have never applied an aftermarket exhaust on any of my cars before! I prefer the look of the single side exit system... it keeps it a clean look that I'm going for. I have found a great deal on a bolt-on 50 series kit. It is supposed to be a mellow sound without sacraficing performance which is great. I do want that rumble of an aftermarket exhaust though... can anyone tell me if the 50 series is a good way to go? I don't want an extremely loud system, just a nice deep rumble, not too much. Also if the 50 series single side exit setup is too quiet for me, would replacing the muffler alone with say a 40 0r super 44 make a difference in the rumble?

I appreciate any input guys and some of your trucks look awesome. I shall post some pics of mine soon.

HTB

50 series is alright, 14" body Magnaflow would be better. Much better note and no restrictive baffle plates which the Flowmaster will contain.

40 series - super 44 series line of muffler are loud and rebel sounding, from what you are asking, that is not what you are looking to achieve.

I'm not sure if there would be a difference between a '02 and a '08 being 2V and 3V but I put a 3" Super 44 on my '02 (still has the stock manifolds and convertors) and it has that deep rumble/tone at idle that you mention, and is louder than stock when you're in the throttle but not extremely loud.

To my judgement, the 2v and 3v motors sound nearly exact, but the 3v is a hint louder.

Thanks for all your input guys. I also liked the vid of the 50 series. I think I'm going to give it a try since I can get my hands on a $315 bolt on kit from the net. If its too tame for me, I'l just replace the muffler.

But again, that 50 series sounded just what I wanted I think!

Sounds good. Mufflers are always interchangable.
