thanks guys.
I forgot about the applications. just weird they always miss the 97/98's.

When slipping the LT's in, does anyone know how much of a lift on the engine is required? If you unbolt the motor mounts, does anything else get disconnected?
these look awesome. and kind of middle of the pack price.

when i put 5.4L headers on my 4.6L i didnt take the starter out or lift the engine but alot of guys on here do i donno why the bottom bolts on the passenger side by the starter are fun and the frist primary on the driver side is almost impossible to get to. also if u havent replaced your o2's in a while you mine as well while there out. oh and to get the passenger side out take the heat sheild off were the stock cats used to be other wise you'll fit with it and scratch up your headers pretty good.

https://www.f150online.com/forums/sh...g+tube+headers <~~Good write up that i used when i did mine.

Thats sweet you get o2 extentions with yours how much that kit you posted a picture of cost?

Because of the crazy bends they have in them they create more back pressure then stock manifolds. also they do not have the scavging effect like longtubes. ive had both and i deff felt a huge increase with longtubes over shortys. i dynoed with shortys at 190HP/234Ftlbs i have yet to go back with the long tubes but i know i picked up at least 20+HP and Ftlbs on the butt dyno. ill be going to the dyno once i get 400 bucks for a dyno tune and an hour on the dyno and let you guys know numbers

Yeah that write up is long but it really really really helps and it covers just about everything you will need to do. 730 bucks aint bad if there Stainless..hope they are lol i got my long tubes for 280 but there just 16 gague carbon steel i painted them they've rusted a lil bit but no leaks or cracks or anything.

Good luck

All 97 - 03 headers are compatable. The 5.4L is only a bored out 4.6L remember. And the new trucks 4.6L is the same as the 1997 one, the 5.4L changed in 2004 ( 3v per cyl ).

Shorties are exactly like OEM manifolds, same shapes, size, just a different steel grade. Longtubes are un-restricted, allow all flow, scavenging, and sound out of the engine.

I'm not saying they're equivalent to longtubes.

The amount of work involved installing LT's are not worth it unless you've got other mods to compliment. I've got a bad leak from the mans so I figured I might look into headers.
My Lightning satisfies the need for performance. Just thought I'd give the daily driver a bit.
