I'd be the Dad. The custom shop I have been seeing is a great bunch of guys. Nice too, that they were actually born here, not some mideastern country, unlike most of the chain muffler shops around here.:o
They have some take off from 2005 cobras. He thinks that removing the rear cat and going with a muffler from the 05 cobra, then piped to the rear would be a good sound. Said it would sound like a mustang. They do a lot of custom work.
I think it might be a good route. I'm not real big on a ricer sound either. Don't really want a "putt-putt" sound either.
Any other input????
By the way, that 1992 we found only has 66k miles on it. Its a manual trans 4x4. I can't believe how clean this thing is. Up here in michigan, thats pretty unheard of. It spent a lot of its life in a barn....

Well now you've heard my dads side. He really seems to think that because they do hot rods they will know exactly whats going to sound good. but Seeing as to how they do hot rods, I'm guessing just about every car in there is a V8 and they proabaly haven't seen many straight sixes.

As for glasspacks, how do you guys think one of these would sound ? it's 28" long overall, which is pretty long.

But now I see this guy, it's 45" long.

Thoughts ?

So are the round cased magnaflows considered glasspacks ? I'd swear they made mufflers called Magnapacks or something.

i dont know the whole deal about magnaflows glasspacks. i here there called magnapacks but i cant find anything anywhere that says magnaflow magnapack or glasspack. the mustang with the magnapacks(in the sound clip section) is the only time i've really seen or heard of them.

Magnapack comes in a cat-back for Mustangs and osme other cars. The closest muffler to them is the 14" length round body muffler.

Magnaflow also has a race series line up like Flowmaster, but they are very expensive, talking upo to about $120 each.

I don't think I want a race style. It's a 300 C.I. motor but it's still a six cylinder so I think I want to retain some back pressure since I don't want a ricey sound. So maybe the longest 14" available ?

yeah, longest 14"? you mean thinnest? The next muffler longer than the 14" is the 18" which will be hardly noticeable on a 6. The 14" body round is the closest Magnapack muffler.
