Which is better??

From a performance standpoint with a 5.4. Will I notice any advantage with a big single over a si/do exaust? I dont think I want to go the true dual route from what I gather from some of the other threads. Am I wrong?

When I say performance, Im thinking in terms of torque (off idle acceleration).

An entire single system will perform best for stock/lightly modified engine. True duals is for supercharged, blown, heavilly modified engines. Anyone that gets true duals on a basicly stock engine ( such as myself ) is just after the sweet sound.

si/do will still perform about as good as a si/so can, get a 3" midpipe and a 3" in 2.5" dual out muffler and it will perform as well as a single, though the single would still be better if every single little bit of low end power is needed.

I did a 3" SI/SO Flowmaster on mine with a single 3" tail and 4" tip and have been very happy with it.

Well with Flowmasters, I don't think it would really matter if it's SI/SO or SI/DO.

If you're after power then go with a straight through muffler, not a baffled one. Especially for low end, because Flowmasters have been known to decrease torque down there.
