Magnaflow muffler ??

I have a 4.6 2002 F150.. want to swap out he factory muffler with a Magnaflow. I am looking for just a little more rumble, nothing extreme. Should i go with the 3" in/2.5" dual out or a 2.5" in/2.5" dual out? Or does it make a hill of beans? I already have a tail pipe from a H.D. edition i am going to finish it off with.

I say ditch the Y-Pipe and run a DI/DO Magnaflow muffler. Magnaflows aren't that loud anyways.

Yeah, the Y-Pipe was a future mod, i have not done it yet...
The 18" oval isn't loud at all, right? I take long road trips with the little lady, if it keeps her awake, she gets grumpy

I don't think the 18" is loud at all.

I've got Magnaflow Magnapacks on my car and don't think it's nearly as loud as it should be.

Get a 12198 Magnaflow muffler, its a 14" body, 3" in 2.5" out. Have your shop fab it up with the HD tip. The 14" body isn't loud, just a real clear & rich sweet tone that is noticeable over stock.

The 22" body will be barely noticeable even under acceleration.

Precisely why I will never ever run no mufflers. I'll throw my Super 44s on my truck before I go pure straights.

DarrenWS6,
I have debated the 14" muffler as well.. i am afraid the 18" won't be noticable at all over the stock one..Already found a shop that can mandrel bend the pipes...

Hmm... maybe i might find some "holes" in my factory muffler that will requie a new one...

Just think of it as someone cut your big factory muffler out to scrap it for steel The 14" will be perfect. Wont louden up for quite awhile, nice respectable tone.

My first exhaust mod was the 14" swap, loved it, got louder for about 6,000 miles, then finally went true duals/high flows/x-pipe (clip in sig)

As some of my recent posts have mentioned, I 'm looking to get a more throaty sound. I don't want to be waking up the neighborhood or anything like that, but I would definitely like people to know when I'm around.

Would simply changing out my stock muffler for a magnaflow 12198 like the one mentioned above do the trick?

How much would this have to be modified in order for it to fit my truck? I have an 06
F150 5.4 V8. Would I need to change out anything else in order to get this nice tone or just swap out the muffler and I'd be all set?
