Volant CAI

Well I got my Intake installed last night. It really looks good, but I am thinking of sending it back. I did not notice a big performance jump and when I opened the box it had a few scratch's on it, not really noticable now but they were on there. I will take some pictures tonight when I get home and post them. I am feeling air being sucked in from the top cover which I guess is ok being that there is a filter inside the box anyway but was just a little concerned with the craftsmanship of the box.

My question is, did you guys notice a big change when you put the CAI on or is the performance pretty minimal. Everyone had told me that the change was like night and day. My intake makes the engine sound a little better but it is not setting the world on fire.

I guess I should have went with the S&B or AFI.

Any CAI without a new tune is going to produce more sound than actual performance. Slight gains only. You really need the CAI, a tune, and exhaust to get the most out of it.

Well that is what I was afraid of. It only takes money right. I guess I will go ahead and give justin a call and have him give me a quote on a custom tune for this thing.

If you want to really enjoy your truck a custom tune is the best money spent. You won't be sorry.

Yup that is the only thing I lack. I have true duals with flowmaster super 44's, CAI and now I need a custom tune! I will have a little over 1100 in my powertrain. Not actually to bad.

I agree completely. It's the best thing you can ever do for your vehicle.

To answer your question the change in power is not really that noticeable. Not unless you changed your headers and exhausts as well.

did you get the scoop that they make too? i'm currently in the market for an intake and was thinking about it (volant). i have one on my wife's 05 expy and love it. we picked up 1.7mpg (from 10.6-12.3mpg) on the expy after we put it in...i'd love to get that on the f150.

also, someone else asked about the powercore...did you get the powercore model?

Not really ... A custom tune is what is going to make the difference. No doubt that headers and a high flow muffler is going to help. Spend the money on a Xcal2 or Xcal3 with custom tunes.
