Tips on Install

After 4 years of asking the finance committee (my wife) I am going to be installing Magnaflow cat back SIDO (rear side exit behind wheel). Anyways, any tips before I install the system this weekend?

1. Have a case of ice cold beer to relax afterwards

2. take your time pulling the stock out, and installing the new

3. when installing the cat-back, keep everything loose so you can properly adjust it, once its all installed, tighten it all down.

4. Remember the prices of gas so you can try keeping your right foot off the right pedal

I just put one on...the rear hanger was a pita. I would recommend removing the rear isolator and using it as a gauge to open the rear hanger up. Other than that, it's not a bad install. Make sure you have a cheater bar for those oem exhaust bolts.
Lots of patience and a little pb blaster gets the job done. Good luck.

sounds good to me, in good order too

except i might say screw the price of gas for the first month you have the exhaust to break it in and to let people around know you have something now

did you already buy it?

nvm i was going to recommend just buying the mufflers and tips and having a shop put them on the way you want, but saw you live in the north east, in that case, the stainless steel piping will be good for you, and worth the extra cost.

I've installed 2 cat backs and will be helping a buddy from work with his install this weekend. Here is the best tip I can offer: Cut the factory pipes off with a SawZall. Trust me...you will not want to ever put the factory POS muffler and pipes back on and this will save much frustration and time. Also, just unbolt the hanger brackets from the truck and then remove the hangers with the stock sytem off the truck, this will save a lot of headache. And as Darren said "When installing the cat-back, keep everything loose so you can properly adjust it, once its all installed, tighten it all down."

Install complete about 3 hours. The removal of the OEM was the most tasking part. Thanks to Keeks about removing the OEM hangers, for the install that helped big time. Also, big thanks to DarrenWS6 for the advice about the cold beer afterwards. This site rocks thanks to everyone for the input, if I have time I will attach photos later.
