towing exhaust

i'm just wondering what would be the best exhaust set up for towing, long tubes into true duals with an xpipe or more like a dynatech long tube system and then to a nice magnaflow cat back? again its for towing so i want soild power but not killer noise

long tubes to start, (dynatech are good) replace the 4 factory cats with magnaflow hi flows, then a X pipe to regain torque, then i believe magnaflow will be the best thing, bassani, or borla

the longer muffler the quieter the sound, bassani and borla will give you the most "towing power" but their really really expensive, magnaflow makes a 24" muffler i do believe, and if you run the pipes out of the back behind the tires you shouldnt hear much inside if any,

With LT's and high flows the shortest muffler you will want to use to keep interior resonance low would be a 18" maggie, and there will still be drone with that.

You cant have true duals & a cat-back at the same time. I would skip out on the LTs, and just get hi-flow cats and a 14" si/do Magnafow with tips of your choice.

Honestly... Stock.

Unless you're doing a completely new exhaust system (basically from the manifolds back) it's hard to beat the low and mid range torque of the stock exhaust.

If you wanted a new system --- long tube headers (solid 30hp/30tq gain), highflow cats, X-pipe as close to the cats as possible, 24" Magnaflows (to keep the sound down), and pipes out the back, all mandrel bent of course.

true, hard to beat a stock exhaust when it comes to low and mid torque, unless as mudterrain said do a complete new exhaust

Make sure to have your tips exit to the side, not straight out the back. Otherwise you'll get to listen to the sound of your truck echoing off your trailer the whole time.

Try riding in a Ls1 camaro with turndowns after the headers, for 600 miles the car ran like **** and it was a 6 speed. It sucked

Make sure you keep plenty of clearance with your spare tire. Towing raises your exhaust temperature and I have seen posts here showing spares burnt up.

And that the tips are right up with the frame, not hanging down really low.
