Is the stock inlet diameter 2.5" or 3"? I'm guessing that any muffler shop should be able to make a 3" fit with no problem? Also, there are so many maggie mufflers out there, does anybody know the part number that will best replace the stock one? Thanks, Matt

Replacing the stock one with a maggie of similar length would be pointless, it would be super quiet, get a 14" or 18" depending on the sound level you desire.

I was looking for an 18", It doesn't have to be the same length as stock since I am adding new pipes after the muffler and new tips. I don't want it too loud, just want good tone. I don't want it to drone at all if possible. Is there a huge difference between the 14" and 18"?

There is a difference, from what you have said, the 18" sounds like the muffler for you. I love my 14", they are sideswept so there is drone in the cab, but I love the sound. Do some video watching on youtube.

Well I broke down and purchased a 12198 Maggie from performance peddler I think I have decided to run both pipes to tips right in front of my right rear tire.

Great choice with the 14" body. The shop will make it work no problem.

1997 - present truck have 2.5" exhaust.
