Removing the rear cats can improve torque. If you got only two cats I dont know, you will set off the CEL though. Best off with hi-flow cats.

high flow cats will make no power difference on a stock or even lightly modded engine, there are many tests on mustangs that have shown no increase of performance by using high flow cats, but it's your money.

So, is there no advantage to pulling off the 4 OEM cats (96,000 miles on truck) and replacing with 2 hi-flow cats?

According to the guy with the ten year old truck with ten years of mods on it.

think of it this way. you can take all four of your cats out. put in two high flow maggies for about $160 and sell your old cats for $200 or more depending on who you sell them to.

performance wise probably no gains..might see some tq gain but i doubt it...ive had every kind of cat set up on my truck when i had all 4 factory cats i cut 2 off seemed to get up and go a little more..cut those 2 off so i had no cats..lost that get up and go...all of it...now i put 2 maggie hi flows on it..and i got that get up and go again as far as the 96000 miles on the cats..if you replace them you might see a gain in mpg they could be gettin a little clogged

The only real noticeable gain would be in the high rpm range basically, if you tow something you may notice it might be a bit easier to pull also. Hi-flow cats will really let the engine talk to ya thats the main purpose people swap to them.

Definitely. Catless is just crazy loud, rebel exhaust lol. Cats make the nice tone, and the sound of magnaflow to start the system where it starts is perfect. Nothing like a clear tone with a loud roar.
