new magnaflow exhaust ???'s

Well I finally got my sido exhaust installed on my truck. Not no where as loud as I had hoped but I know the maggies get louder w/ time. My question is that after I installed it after a 45 mile trip the tips are so hot they will almost burn you. Is this normal. The only other mods are a K&N drop in filter. Thanks for any help. Also where does everyone else mount the hangers.

Yeah its all new exhaust that has never been hit with that heat before. So expect it to be hot and smell a bit like welding for a few weeks.

No problem. And after awhile when you stomp the gas a bit you will still smell the weld and packing metarial smell, it will all go away after 1,000 or so miles.

This is very common. The smell is the mandrel grease burning off the pipes. Once the packing breaks in which is usually about 500 to 800 miles the tone should increase. The material inside of the muffler is called ROCKWOOL. Its a non flamable sound deadening material that would burn out or blow out.

Yes....

when I first got my Magnaflow's put on my new 08' F150, a couple weeks ago, they were not as loud as I expected either. I've only put a few hundred miles on them, but already they are sounding a little louder, and a lot better !

Of course being a brand new truck, it holds sound out of the cab pretty well. But a couple times I have stood outside of the truck (like when the window tinting guy backed it out of his shop) and it sounded freaking bad-*** ! :-)

I really haven't noticed any bad smell coming from the new exhausts.... Don't doubt that it has, again I just haven't stood behind the truck much with it running, and heated up. Either way, I haven't smelt anything from inside the cab.

Stomp the gas and WOT it a few times, do a couple 0 - 60 runs for example, and I bet you'll smell it, mine sure did
