Ok I want to know if this is a good muffler for my truck http://www.magnaflow.com/02product/s...e=main&id=7460

I want to do a drop in filter but not sure wich one I should do since I hear alot about the AEM dry flow but can't seem to find it for a drop in so I think I will end up with a K&N.

I know quite a bit about cars but nothing about exhaust systems. (I work at a full service shop but we don't do after market work and most the guys have just cut their exhaust off which I know isn't the best way to go)

That muffler will fit perfect. The OEM muffler in these trucks are 32" long, so the 18" will fit no doubt. Go to an exhaust shop with the muffler ( and tips if you buy any ) and ask them to install and mandrel bend tailpipes, and it will work out well. Better than buying a $600 cat back. Great choice with the Magnaflow.

I would also suggest looking into the S&B drop in filter. Its relativly the same as K&Ns filter, still requires oiling and cleaning, but K&N isn't the most trusting filter out there.

Why would an S&B dropin be any better than a K&N dropin. The critcism is usually of an oiled dropin, period. There is nothing at all wrong with a K&N used properly. Mine has been in place for 72,000 miles, and over 3 years.

s&b is like $50 cheaper, at least on my truck. and it is better then a K&N, since its a closed filter.

that is the muffler i have on my truck with two tips coming out the side in front of the tire...I LOVE IT....sounds good performs good and its not raspy....if you liek that low idle sound you wont get it with this one but when you hit that gas youll know its a magna flow and thats for sure....its not really loud but sounds great and is NEVER annoying like some loud exhausts with alot of drone.....and if you want it louder an intake will wake it up a bit

a drop in filter is only good to save some money (over a period of time) h/p and mpg increases are negligible. If you save up and actually buy a WHOLE intake, you spend more but your money will come back faster in MPGs. Plus a few extra ponies should put a grin somewhere in your day.

I've owned as K&N filter before, I have been better impressed by others. The K&N does not do the best job when it comes to dust. Thats my main complaint about it. Paper filters do better. K&N just flows alot better, but with the amount of dust that can see its way through it I wouldn't want to run one on this truck. I never criticized it about the oiling/cleaning part. I stated I would trust the S&B better than the K&N filter.
