Buying Hi-flows and the install - Help Wanted!

Alright guys, what's your take on this? I'm going to install 2 high flow cats (maggies) in the next couple weeks to replace my stock 4 cats. I have one guy who has done all of my exhaust work in the past, and is an authorized Maggie dealer.

Should I:

1. Buy the cats from him and have him install them out of loyalty. (A little more expensive)

2. Buy the cats online for about $20 cheaper per cat, and ask him to install him. (concerned that I would insult or perturb him that I didn't buy them from him)

3. Buy the cats online and have someone else install them. (Save money but risk quality and the level of service I've had in the past)

I'm hoping some of you have weighed these questions yourselves and might have some experience or results you could share. Thanks!

I haven't had cat work done but the shop I always deal with specializes in Magnaflow. I asked his honest opinion and he said buy the mufflers and tips online, cause if he had to order it would cost a few more. Your guy shouldn't care. Your paying him for the work as is. If he can order your cats cheaper, let him get them. Otherwise, F paying $40 more. Dont let your installer scare ya. Let him know you mean business and they'll do the work.

Just talked to my "DTC Warning Guy" (my exhaust guy) and he's once again told me that if I go with the two high flows that I'm going to throw a code. I know that countless people on here have installed high flows without throwing a code. Can someone tell me EXACTLY what I need to explain to him so that he understands what I want and how to do it? I've seen a number of threads like this, but I want to be able to stand there with my truck in the air, point and say, "cut this out, put this here, leave this alone." MUCH THANKS!

Well I just had mine done a few weeks ago. Here's what I did. Bought EVERYTHING online. Took it to a muffler shop. Said cut out the 4 cats, install these new cats, replace 4 O2 sensors, welder her up and thats it. Also ask for your old cats back and dont take no for an answer. Take them to a scrap metal yard and get some $ for them. Being an 04 not sure how much you will get but I got $200 for the four 11yr old cats on my 97.
