Quiet Muffler Recommendation

I have the Banks Monster Exhaust on my 5.4 3V. I want a quieter muffler. It needs to be 24" long and has 3" in and out centered. Any recommendations on what I could replace the current muffler with? The Banks muffler appears to be a Magnaflow 6" round SS flow through. Listen to the current setup here.

By 24" do you mean overall length, or just the casing/body length?

Either way, here's some:

If body:
6x12 22" Body, 28 overall, $98 (figure it could still fit)
5X8 24" Body, 30 overall, $89

If overall length
5x8 18" body, 24 overall, $77

Overall length would be around 24"-25" case is around 17".

This is the one that comes with the Banks Exhaust, at least it looks that way.

I have a 22" Magnaflow on my 03. isn't much louder than stock except at WOT. Didn't want it to drone when pulling the camper. Put an 18" on my dad's 92 F150 (51k original) and liked the sound a little better.

I'd be interested in your Banks Muffler...

Let me know if you want to get rid of it

You want a quiet muffler ???

Then stick with a stock one. My stock muffler was so darn quiet, you could barely hear it.

But, you say, you want the increased power and torque, from an aftermarket muffler..... Yes, okay. Lets see, the best aftermarket muffler can add a couple % in power / torque at certain RPM's.... maybe... sometimes. That should be easy enough to recoup, in a whole bunch of other ways, and you could still keep the quiet stock muffler.

But, you say, you have already gotten rid of your stock exhaust.... Hmmm. With the way muffler shops hack off stock exhausts every day, their should be a HUGE suply of stock mufflers just laying around somewhere. I know when I had my MagnaFlow put on, the mechanic asked me if I wanted my stock muffler back. I told him to keep it. And it was brand new BTW.

I love my MagnaFlow true duals... I just wish they were a little louder :-)

Peace,
Fish
