FLOWMASTER or MAGNAFLOW??

I just bought a 2008 F150 FX4 w/5.4 and I am up in the air on these two exhaust systems. I've heard that the Flowmaster has a more aggresive while the Magnaflow just has a low rumble. Any suggestions on these types of exhaust?

my setup is maggie high flows and dual 40 series. Loud as hell in my opinion. But in your case u just got to get what sounds right to you. some like to pop and crackle while others just like them to be raspy. Good Luck with your choice!

i never thought flowmasters had a "performance" tone to them. but they are louder if thats what you're looking for. I just got my magnaflow yesterday and am installing after work. I'll let you guys know what i think.

I'd say thats nearly accurate. Flows are definitely louder, but maggies have a lower tone.

K great. I definitely want to go with the magnaflows if the tone is lower. I don't want to go with the "glasspack" sound but yet a more performance tone like said above. I will update as soon as the exhaust is on. Thanks for the comments!!

Do you want to go with a bolt on kit or a custom kit? The Magnaflow kits are pretty damn quiet, way too quiet for my tastes. Flowmasters are not really geared towards performance since they are chambered mufflers. My opinion is to go with a custom set-up or get the Roush bolt on exhaust system. It's made by Borla so it's high quality stuff but it's made to Roush's specs so it sounds awesome !! If you want to go with a custom set-up this is what I'd do ... True dual exhaust with 2.5" tubing, Dynomax Race Bullets or the smallest Magnaflow mufflers that you can buy, and a H Pipe. It'll sound awesome, too !!

I would probably have to go with a bolt on kit. I have $700 set aside for an exhaust system and both the Flowmaster and the Magnaflow kits were around this price including the install.

Are you paying someone to install the kit?

Yeah I have no mechanic skills at all. I would probably come out cheaper by letting someone else install for me.

The installation of an exhaust system kit is very simple. If you can change your own oil, you certainly can remove your old exhaust and bolt up a new one... Save yourself some dough and give it a try!
